This qualification is primarily intended for all those individuals who are working in health and social care environments where medications management is a pre-requisite and an inter-connected part of their daily roles and responsibilities. This course is also ideal for anyone who requires refresher training or continuing professional development (CPD) training. Individuals who attend this course will learn that safety and security is of paramount importance to the management, storage and access of medications. Furthermore, emphasis on administration of medications and correct preparation for the management of adverse incidents will prepare the student to competently manage medication practices in their place of work.
Course participants will develop their knowledge and skills in relation to medications management including:
- Medication types, categories and their effects and side effects.
- Legislation, custody and storage of medications.
- Administration of medicines, including the “5 R’s”.
- Fluid balance recording.
- Early warning scoring systems.
- Record keeping.
- Management of adverse incidents and adverse reactions.
Successful candidates will receive a Certificate of Attendance in Medications Management.
Half-day (3 hours).
All course participants must be physically well and feel capable to participate in the activities and procedures detailed above within the course outline.
This course is available to Nurses and Allied Health Care Professionals as part of their own CPD portfolio.
